Ed Steinhilper, Art Instructor

Ed Steinhilper is a watercolorist who describes himself as a "wet 'n wet"
landscape painter.  Using predominately primary colors and a broad brush,
the paper becomes the palette as paint washes mix into luminous hues and
transparent vibrancy.  After extensive preparation, Ed paints quickly and
with sureness that superbly captures a moment of light on a snowy day or a
summer evening of stretching shadows.  His work is more than visual.  In his
watercolor of a winter forest scene, you can hear the thud of wet snow
falling from a pine bough onto the warming earth below.  His creations
reflect his passion for art, painting and the land.

A graduate of the Pittsburgh Art Institute, Ed is a juried member of the
Pittsburgh Watercolor Society.  He has studied with several noted watercolor
painters including Carlton Plumer and Tony VanHasselt and is featured in the
book "Artist's Secrets to Painting Tonal Values" published by the North
Light Book Club.

Since the mid-seventies, Ed has lectured, demonstrated and taught,
introducing many students to the art of painting.  Ed is presently Director
of The Lycoming Art Students' League in Montoursville, PA where people who
yearn to express themselves find an inspirational and knowledgeable teacher.
Several area galleries and many private collections feature his work as
well.

Ed Steinhilper offers instruction in watercolors and acrylics in his studio at the Farm Complex.

Please contact him at 570-327-8338 or 570-368-1616 to schedule a class. Enjoy his paintings offered at Fairfield Art Gallery.
